Peat is partially decomposed plant material which is often used in compost. However, it is a hugely important carbon sink (absorbs more carbon than it releases) so the best thing to do is to leave it in the ground. In Miracle-Gro peat-free compost they use forest by-products, carefully processed into wood fibre to provide similar nutrition, but a healthier planet.
Ericaceous compost is a more acidic type of compost which suits plants like azaleas, rhododendrons, camellias and blueberry bushes as they need a more acidic conditions to sustain their growth. Miracle-Gro peat-free ericaceous compost contains a unique formulation to ensure those plants are fed for 3 months and grow strong and healthy.
A 40L bag of compost is enough to fill about 2.5 large or 6 medium pots. A 10L bag of houseplant compost is enough to fill about 2 medium pots (22cm diameter) or 1 large pot (25cm diameter).
